Astrid Nyborg Berg is a freelancing classical guitarist and composer from Norway, currently living in Malmö, Sweden. Starting her education at the Norwegian Academy of Music, she continued at Malmö Music Academy to study with world famous Professor Göran Söllscher. She has also studied with Prof. Erik Stenstadvold, Geir-Otto Nilsson, David Hansson and Gunnar Spjuth. After graduation she undertook a one-year program in culture project development. Her musical projects are defined by curious attention to audience experiences, resulting in exciting collaborations and new venues. Her 2023 composer residency in the arctic city of Hammerfest led to a whole concert program of pieces inspired by the arctic, premiered during a two month tour of Norway. Together with Hannes Wikström, she founded Malmö Gitarrforum in 2021. In 2024, she arranged the festival “Ida Presti 100 år - Gitarrfestival!” at Palladium, Malmö, together with Malmö Gitarrforum. Nyborg Berg has been engaged to compose music by for example Duo Mardi, Drammen Kulturnatt and Drammen Arts Festival. Otherwise actives in ensembles such as Bacchus Gitarrensemble, Duo Nära and Novemberprojektet. She has performed at venues such as Malmö Live, Helsingborg Gitarrfestival and Uppsala Gitarrfestival, and has been awarded a number of grants from Kulturrådet, Norsk Tonekunstnersamfund, Kungliga Musikaliska Akademin and more.
