Biografi / Biography:
Ia Erlandsson is a composer with a background in classical piano, progressing into playing keyboard in metal bands for recordings and live performances. She has several years of musical studies in composition and piano, these studies include composition at Sundsgårdens folkhögskola and St Sigfrids folkhögskola. In 2018 she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in musical composition from Örebro University, after which she completed a master’s degree in musical composition at Malmö Academy of Music. Her music strives to invite the listener to discover and appreciate contemporary realms within music. This music experiments with combinations of various elements from popular music and contemporary art music, giving the listener both something familiar and something foreign. Her body of work ranges from works for symphony orchestra to solo pieces, and the influence from her background in the metal genre can often be heard. She has participated in creating music for film and theatre, along with composing music for orchestras, ensembles and musicians such as Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, string quartet Malvakvartetten, the Academic Orchestra in Örebro, violinist Peter Sheppard Skærved, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, and also Bergslagens Kammarsymfoniker since being appointed “Composer of the Year 2017”.
