Biografi / Biography:

Justyna Krzyżanowska is a harpist from Stockholm, Sweden, specialising in both the Classical pedal harp and the Celtic folk harp. Holding a bachelor in Classical music performance from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and a master in Scottish traditional music from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, Justyna exhibits experience and mastery of both genres. She is a sought-after harpist in Sweden and her wide range of experiences sees her perform with orchestras and choirs such as the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Swedish Orchestra, Stockholm Concert Orchestra, Gävle Symfoniorkester and Västerås Sinfonietta, to name a few. Justyna frequently performs with her Celtic harp/fiddle duo Woodlands. Since releasing their debut album Woodlands in 2020, they have toured Sweden, with notable performances at festivals Urkult, Norrköping Folkmusikfestival, as well as collaborating with Swedish music organizations Västmanlandsmusiken and Scenkonst Sörmland, playing at elderly homes and creating an original children’s show “Kungens Krona” (The King’s Crown), which was showcased in 30 locations around east coast Sweden in 2022. In 2019 Woodlands started playing with duo Bäckafall, which yet broadened their sound and repertoire. The quartet has performed at festivals Umefolk, Göteborg Folk Festival and Fränder och vänner folkmusikfestival, released two singles and arranged music for a project with folk band and classical choir. Justyna’s musical interests span a broad range of genres and in 2022, she released two avantgarde folktronica singles as a singer and harpist in a collaboration with producer Smowkdragon. Justyna’s eclectic musical interests are reflected in her innovative approach to playing harp which is heavily characterised by rhythm and groove.
