Free improviser, pianist from Tallinn, Estonia, currently based in Gothenburg. Doing my MA in the field of improvisation performance in academy of music and drama. Big fan of non idiomatic school. Apply external objects made of organic materials to the body of grand piano. Combine microtonality with complicated rhythmic patterns. Use drum mallets, guitar sliders, randomly found objects, like chestnuts, stones, sticks to extract sounds from inside the grand piano. Sometimes I am entering the territory of free jazz, noise and ambient. In my approach to the instrument I am an explorer, a researcher and I let the piano play itself and open its secret possibilities. I am liberating sounds. I think this is a feminine approach to improvisation. I am sure that improvisation is also a social phenomenon and I collaborate a lot with artists from other genres and disciplines, establishing relations and trying out connection with contemporary performers, visual artists, butoh dancers. I play with my field recordings and modular synthesis. Interesting in site specific projects and practicing tuning in with space. I also played in book shops, building sort of non human connections with books. And art galleries. Just started free improv duo with drummer, currently working on our album release.
